بدأ التلفزيون العربي السوري إرساله مساء يوم 23 تموز عام 1960 من قمة جبل قاسيون في دمشق ، حيث أقيمت أول محطة إرسال بقوة / 10 / كيلو واط ، واستمر الإرسال لمدة ساعة ونصف فقط في اليوم الأول من داخل استديو متواضع شُـيِّـدَ بجانب محطة الإرسال .. واعتمد على الكوادر الفنية المتواجدة آنذاك في مديرية الإذاعة بعد أن أُرسلت إلى الخارج في دوراتٍ تدريبية قصيرة .
ولم يكن الإرسال يتم في وقت واحد إلى مراكز المحافظات حمص وحلب حيث شُـيِّـدت محطتا إرسال في كلٍ منهما بقوة / 10 / كيلو واط لكل محطة ، لعدم وجود شبكة وصل ميكروية تربط المحطات بعضها ببعض ، بل كانت تبث في دمشق في اليوم الأول ثم تبث محافظات حمص وحلب الأشرطة المسجلة في اليوم التالي ، وكان البث وقتذاك بالأبيض والأسود .
وفي عام 1966 ، تم إنشاء محطة رابعة للبث قرب صلنفة التي تبعد 45 كم إلى الشرق من مدينة اللاذقية ، وفي عام 1967 تم لأول مرة ربط محطات دمشق وحمص وحلب وصلنفة بشبكة وصل ميكروية بحيث أصبح التلفزيون يبث برامجه في آنٍ واحد من استوديوهاته في دمشق إلى جميع المناطق
